The Charities SORP - Common Accounting Challenges
Speaker
Introduction
The nature of charities mean they often undertake transactions that aren’t directly addressed in accounting standards. The Charities SORP aims to bridge such gaps by providing additional requirements and application guidance, but the diversity within the charity sector means there are still challenging areas where the ‘correct’ approach is far from obvious.
This virtual classroom session uses real-life examples to reflect on aspects of charity accounting that are unique to charities and can be challenging to apply in practice. It also looks ahead to the changes in Charities SORP 2026 which applies to periods commencing on or after 1 January 2026.
The session is aimed at those involved in the preparation of charity financial statements either in an accountancy practice or within a charity.
